Toronto Somatic therapist For Women of colour

My Approach to therapy

You may have spent a lot of time trying to understand yourself, reflecting, making sense of your patterns, maybe even going to therapy before but still feel stuck in the same emotional loops. For many women of colour and second-generation Canadians, this isn’t just about anxiety or overthinking. It’s often connected to how you were raised family dynamics, cultural expectations, and environments where emotions weren’t always fully seen, expressed, or supported. Over time, your nervous system adapts.

This can show up as:

  • Overthinking or feeling constantly “on edge”

  • People-pleasing or difficulty expressing your needs

  • Emotional shutdown or feeling disconnected from yourself

  • Repeating patterns in relationships that are hard to change

Even when you understand why these patterns exist, they can still feel automatic. That’s because these patterns don’t just live in the mind, they live in the body.

 My Approach

I offer somatic, nervous system-based therapy that goes beyond traditional talk therapy.

Our work focuses on:

  • Understanding how your nervous system adapted to your early environment

  • Gently working with the body to shift patterns that feel stuck

  • Exploring the impact of family, culture, and early relationships

  • Creating space for new ways of responding, rather than repeating the same cycles

I integrate approaches such as somatic therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and CBT, but the focus is not just on insight. It’s on helping you experience change in a way that feels more grounded, embodied, and sustainable.

I view therapy not only as a place to come when something is wrong, but as an ongoing wellness practice. Just as you might prioritize movement, nutrition, or rest, this work supports your emotional and nervous system health over time.

It’s a space to:

  • Slow down and reconnect with yourself

  • Understand patterns more deeply

  • Build capacity to respond differently in your life and relationships

  • Care for your internal world in a more intentional way

You don’t have to be in crisis to begin. If you’re looking for a space that considers both your lived experience and how it’s held in the body—not just something to “talk through”—you’re welcome to reach out.
